The National Cadet Corps generally abbreviated as NCC, an organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities and is a second line of largest armed force in the world. There are different battalion and units stationed in the city. Our Institute is associated with 2 Maharashtra Armoured Squadron, NCC, Civil Lines, Nagpur. The unit is a minor and open type. The Unit has altogether 3 Senior Division Associate NCC Officers trained and Commissioned by the Officers Training Academy, Kamptee, Nagpur from three different Institutions. Lt. Dr. Prashant Ambekar from our Institute has been commissioned as Lieutenant since October, 2016 and In-Charge of the NCC. The enrolment of the new admitted cadets are done at the Institute level at the preliminary level and a group of selected students are sent to the Unit Level selection procedure at 2MAH ARMD SQN NCC, 66-VCA, Civil Lines, Nagpur-01.
Being an Open Unit (which includes students from all Institutions wherein no NCC units is granted) are enrolled based on their physical and mental fitness, viz. running, seat-ups, push-ups, height, % of marks in earlier examination and written test.
The selected students have been enrolled and granted with a unique Regimental Number by the group HQ.
As our college has spared an ANO with the Unit, the Unit allocate a specific number of vacancies for our students for enrolment in the NCC Senior Division and Senior Wing.
There is two year rigorous practice which includes Regular Drill, Map Reading, Weapon Training, FC-BC, Personality Development, Camping, etc. and after completion of the two year NCC course, these cadets are allowed to appear for the ‘B’ certificate examination conducted by the NCC Directorate. Subsequently, after having a one-year training with B-certificate are allowed to appear for the ‘C’ certificate examination.
